There are school and spanish mackerel offshore, and a nice coral trout was taken only a short distance from the island this week. There are plenty of skippy around a kilo being caught as well.
Fish to 35cm were caught this week.Beach fishing has been producing good numbers of tailor, especially at Wittecarra and Bluff Creek. CHOPPER tailor, mulloway, flathead and crabs are providing sport in the river this week, while herring and whiting are biting off the beaches.There have been plenty of chopper tailor in the river, with some very good fish being taken. The usual haunts in deeper water have not been firing consistently.

Tailor and herring are best targeted at dawn and dusk. There have been some big squid inside the One-Mile at Mindarie. Brett Ozanne picked up a nice flounder in the Sound on Saturday while chasing whiting. North of town has been good for herring, and whiting in the mornings.
METRO. Sam Colvin fished Two Rocks using jigs and soft plastics, catching dhufish, breaksea cod and baldchin groper.
Good snook have come from around Mindarie. They have been rewarded with sand whiting, skippy, herring, garfish, squid, small flathead, salmon and king george whiting. Bottom fishers are also finding red and queen snapper and breaksea cod. Wind has put a dampener on offshore fishing.Fishing from the shore around the island has produced mainly small trevally and queenfish, while trevally and threadfin and blue salmon have come from nearby creeks. Bottom fishing has produced a mixed bag of rankin cod and some very good red emperor, while gold-band snapper are biting well out wide.The beaches on the west coast have offered spangled emperor, bluebone and golden trevally.

Squid numbers are still good.Black bream reports have been best around Maylands, but they can be very hit and miss and some anglers are doing well, while others are finding it hard to raise a fish. Crabs are starting to show up in improved numbers in Mosman Bay and around East Fremantle.Tailor are also offering good fishing along the metro coast, along with herring, and sand whiting continue to be reliable just offshore. Crays are starting to move, with catches improving noticeably this week.Beach and rock anglers have found it hard work over the past week as it has been a bit quiet and the few that have done reasonably well have been prepared to get to the more remote spots. Herring and tailor have also been biting at the moles, along with a few surprise king george whiting.Offshore, there have been plenty of KGs and it has been a great year for fishing for the prized catch.Samson fish have been caught around the cray pots along the Three-Mile Reef and on Direction Bank. The crays are going strong and most people are getting a feed, whether diving or using pots.
SKIPPY and herring are biting at Rottnest this week, with king george whiting in Cockburn Sound and bream biting at Maylands.

There have been good numbers of giant trevally to around 30kg coming the shore at the Oysters. There have been some reasonable catches of garfish as well. The sails are starting to build in numbers in the Gulf. Boat fishing has been good for pink snapper and large fingermark bream, along with estuary cod.

Year round angles can fish around Perth for Whiting, Flathead, Skippy, Mulloway, Herring and Tailor. Luke Church and crew did well on grey-banded cod at the Rottnest Trench on Wednesday, while samson fish, pink snapper and amberjack were caught in 200m north-west of Rottnest last weekend.Pink snapper up to 12kg have been coming from Warnbro, with the odd fish also being taken from the shore. Around town, it is mainly herring and whiting from the shore, with a few skippy as well.Both harbours are producing king george whiting for boat anglers.
