is it more humid on the east or west coast of florida

The ocean doesn’t feel like bath water like the Gulf beaches. The air near the surface of the water is close to saturated. Air over the ocean is saturated at about 60 degrees (the temperature of the water). I am speaking from experience, we actually lived in Naples the and West Palm Beach area. this forum made possible by our volunteer staff, including ...I am visiting my family on the east coast in DC and it struck me that I am baffled by why it is more humid on this side of the continent. The air over this water is saturated at 75 degrees, and even if the land temp is the same as it is for my west coast example (80), the dewpoint over land is much higher.Ah, sorry.

I thought it probably wouldn’t be the best answer but I tried. I saw beautiful pictures of Sanibel- Fort Myers area. I live in Tampa.

The east coast of the United States is much more rich in history than the west coast.

Is it just my timing, or does the Atlantic side feel less hot/humid because of the ocean breeze? So the coastal nw US could be summed up as summer dry warm (not hot) and the winter wet and cool (not cold). I can only speak for the East Coast as I have only visited the West Coast. The United States started with the thirteen colonies all of which were located up the east coast. This is all just my opinion based on a flawed memoryWorks at a residential alternative high school in the Himalayas This is all just my opinion based on a flawed memoryThis is all just my opinion based on a flawed memoryA human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Particularly popular areas include communities in Sarasota, Tampa, Venice, and Bradenton. I feel like I understand west coast weather patterns alright, and virtually all our moisture comes off the ocean. The last example is what the west coast experiences.

I love our white sand beaches and it looks more 'tropical' on this side as we seem to have more palm trees and tropical flowers. I feel like I understand west coast weather patterns alright, and virtually all our moisture comes off the ocean. Key West, being surrounded by the warm Atlantic Ocean, is the most humid city in Florida with average dew points in summer of 74 to 75.

As I understand it the prevailing winds at our temperate northern latitudes (Northern California is similar to DC) are westerly. Winds blowing over water will reach a temperature close to the water temp. Meaning low humidity. On the east coast and the Gulf areas, the water temp is much higher (using my example, lets go with 75 degrees). We had trouble talking to the server. This cool foggy air then  comes onshore, passing over the warm/hot I never realized how "cold" Maine really was until I went elsewhere, like Minnesota and their winters. Winds blowing over water will reach a temperature close to the water temp. Quick, read this tiny ad:100th Issue of Permaculture Magazine - now FREE for a while The dew point temperature refers to the temperature you’d have to lower the air temperature to to reach saturation. It seems now the better question may have been “why is the west coast so dry in the summer?”, as this is a more novel climate pattern (<5% of the earth is summer dry winter wet). In general, the east coast has more history due to it is where America was founded. Yes it gets the same temperature like -20 below zero (f), but there I noticed it felt warm because it was a "dry" cold. I've heard its more humid on the Gulf side than the East Coast. The summer is more tolerable than the west coast due to the ocean breezes. But, if the air temp is 80 and the dewpoint is 60, not so humid. Location: Ladakh, Indian Himalayas at 10,500 feet, zone 5Yep, exactly what Travis said, above. Oops. 90% of rainfall is in Oct-June most places I’ve lived in the west coast. It is from the confluence of the jet stream and the currents of the Atlantic. The Florida Ocean Face-Off Atlantic Coast. Please try again.

If we get anything from the east it’s hot and dry from inland deserts.
